for International Students

General Introduction

Guizhou Jiao Tong College ( Guizhou Polytechnic College of Communications) is a full-time higher vocational college authorized by the People's Government of Guizhou Province and registered in the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. It is the only national demonstrative higher vocational college in Guizhou Province. The educational goals and tasks of our college are to train high-skilled professionals in the fields of transportation construction, management and service. Furthermore, the college aims to train practical and skillful high-end professionals in the fields of economy, information technology, tourism, computers, art, logistics and shipping to actively meet the needs of social development. We have a large number of graduates all over China.

The admission requirements for international applicants

Graduates are required to have a high school diploma or above or an equivalent qualification and should be allowed to be admitted into the vocational colleges or universities in their home-country.

Language requirements

All the courses are entirely in Chinese language. A good command of Chinese language is crucial for a successful application to Guizhou Jiao Tong College(Guizhou Polytechnic College of communications).

Applicants from non-Chinese speaking countries must meet the college's entry requirements in order to apply for a higher vocational academic education in our college.

International students who have passed HSK-3 and HSK-4 can gain a scholarship.

Departments and Majors

There are two departments in our college planning to recruit 20 international students. The first one is the Department of Road and Bridge Engineering which will recruit 10 students majoring in road and bridge engineering technology; the other one is the Department of Automotive Engineering which will recruit 10 students majoring in automobile application technology.

The Department of Road and Bridge Engineering

Founded in 1958, the Department of Road and Bridge Engineeringis one of the backbone departments in this college. Currently, there are 6 majors consisting of road and bridge engineering technology ( highway detecting technology and highway project supervision), highway maintenance and management , cost management of road project, underground engineering and tunnel engineering, and engineering technology of urban railway transits. In 2002,it was approved to be the Department of Higher Vocational Education Reform. In 2007, it was selected as the unit to promote the specialty construction of national demonstrative vocational education.

Major: ( highway and bridge engineering direction)

Road and bridge engineering technology is the earliest-established major and it is the national demonstrative major of higher vocational education funded by China’s central government.

Main courses:

Advanced mathematics, English, engineering mechanics, highway engineering and construction surveying, engineering drawing and computer graphics, road materials and experimental inspection, highway engineering geology, road investigation technology, roadbed construction technology, bridge construction technology, pavement construction technology, bridge structure, bridge construction technology, road surface construction, road construction costs, highway engineering supervision, etc.

The Department of Automobile Engineering

The Department of Automobile Engineering is the backbone department of Guizhou Jiao Tong College (Guizhou Polytechnic College of Communications). There are 6 specialties including automobile application technology, automobile shaping technology, automobile electronic technology, automobile inspection and maintenance, automobile technology service and marketing, as well as automobile technology service and marketing ( for the direction of car insurance and claims).

Automobile application technology

This specialty is the national demonstrative major of higher vocational college. Graduates will work mainly on automobile transportation, maintenance, sales and after-sales service and other technical administration. They also work on automobile transportation management, automobile insurance claims, automobile modification and technological development in the automobile enterprises and institutions.

Main courses:automobile materials,English for the automobile industry, the structure and maintenance of automobile engines , the structure and maintenance of automobile chassis, the principles of engines and the theory of automobile, automobile insurance and claims, automobile sensor technology, etc.

Study Period

Students entering the higher vocational college diploma will start in September each year and study for 3 years.

Students of Chinese language learning program will start in March or September each year and study for six months or one year.

Tuition and Financial Documentation

- Tuition:

RMB 4,500 per year

- Accommodation fee:

RMB 1,200 per year

- Extras:

RMB 2000 per year

Jiaxiu Scholarship

First prize: RMB 10,000 yuan

Requirements:

Have passed HSK-4

Regular attendance for class

Never fail in the exams

Getting good grades

Abide by Chinese laws

Second Prize: RMB 6,000 yuan

Requirements:

Have passed HSK-3

Regular attendance for class

Never fail in the exams

Getting good grades

Abide by Chinese laws

Third Prize: RMB 4,500 yuan

Requirements:

Have passed HSK-3

Never fail in the exams

Abide by Chinese laws

P.S: Students must pay their tuition fee, the incidental fee and accommodation fee before gaining the Jiaxiu Scholarship.

College President’s Scholarship

The first prize

1200 yuan per year and 600 yuan per semester

The second prize

one person

1000 yuan per year and 500 yuan per semester

The third prize

two persons

800 yuan per year and 400 yuan per semester

Academic results in the class’ top 4

International applicants must make sure to have enough money for all of the expenses during their study in China before the visa is granted by the Chinese consulate.

You must explain the source of your money and guarantee that you will receive it during study at the college.

*Our college provides a full scholarship to outstanding international students whom we are willing to recruit and who have passed the HSK.

Students’ Application Materials and Visa

Application Materials Required

1. Fill in the International Students’ Application Form of Guizhou Jiao Tong College(Guizhou Polytechnic College of Communications)and send it via post or E-mail. (original and copy)

2. The following documents are enclosed with your application form:

(1) a resume and a Chinese translation

(2) a copy of the certificate of the highest education qualification and a Chinese translation

(3) a copy of the foreigner’s physical examination form

(4) a copy of the valid passport

Note: All materials mentioned above should be sent to the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Jiao Tong College(Guizhou Polytechnic College of communications)via post or E-mail.

Chinese Visa, Physical Examination and Proof of Residence

1. The applicants who have been admitted should apply to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate for a study abroad visa in China by providing their passports, admission letters, visa application form for foreign students studying abroad in China and the foreigner’s physical examination record. All materials mentioned above should be original documents and students should keep these materials for entry into China.

2.After registration, the applicants should have a physical examination at the local health department. Make sure to bring your passports and the original foreigner physical examination record.

3. Within 30 days from the date of entry into China, the applicants should apply for a residence permit at the local public security department with their passport, admission letter, visa application form for foreign students studying abroad in China and foreigner physical examination record.
