The Traffic Landscape Sculpture and Pottery Production-Oriented Training Base was established in 2018 through a partnership between the college and Guizhou Xingqian Cultural Industry Development Co., Ltd. Occupying over 3,800 square meters with an investment exceeding 14 million yuan, the base focuses on sculpture design and construction, ceramic craft development, CNC carving, and advertising processing. It supports the Art Design program of the Management Engineering Department with real production tasks, offering students rotational training, internships, and employment. It has evolved into a comprehensive base integrating education, cultural heritage, social services, and technological R&D, and was recognized as a high-level production-oriented industry-education integration training base in Guizhou in 2021.
Adhering to General Secretary Xi Jinping's guidance on vocational education, the base promotes industry-education integration and school-enterprise cooperation, reforming educational methods, school-running models, management, and support mechanisms. It has established a flexible and efficient platform for talent cultivation and technological innovation. The base team includes 8 in-house faculty members and 15 master craftsmen from the company, along with 3 inheritors of intangible cultural heritage specializing in Yazhou pottery and clay sculpture techniques in Guizhou, and industry consultants. Combining Guizhou's ethnic non-material cultural heritage and revolutionary culture, the base cultivates cultural confidence and the spirit of craftsmanship. It has undertaken over 10 projects integrating transportation and tourism, as well as culture and tourism, such as the design and construction of the Guizhou Pavilion at the 2020 Beijing World Horticultural Exposition, and the overall planning and design of sculptures for the Laoyashan Zunyi Battle Memorial Park and the Daloushan Service Area on the Chongqing-Guizhou Expressway within the National Cultural Park of the Long March, with an annual output value approaching 10 million yuan.
In sculpture processing and teaching, the base employs provincial ceramic artists, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, and product designers from various universities to provide joint guidance to students, fostering a deep understanding of ethnic culture and passing down the craftsmanship spirit. Nearly 20 students have been retained, and 2 national light industry technicians and senior craft artists have been cultivated.
Regarding the development, design, and production of ceramic cultural and creative products, the base emphasizes ethnic culture while nurturing students' innovative spirit. Over 20 patents have been jointly applied for, with more than 10 approved. In 2021, the base's research on pottery embroidery products was transformed into an innovative and entrepreneurial teaching outcome. The Yazhou pottery integrated with Miao embroidery project, "Yuexiang Miaoyi," won the gold medal at the 7th China International "Internet+" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, marking Guizhou's first gold in this field. As General Secretary Xi expects, young people in the new era should enhance their learning urgency, study diligently, improve their humanistic qualities, and contribute to the country through innovation and practical skills.
