On December 11th, the inauguration ceremony of the "Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Transportation and Artificial Intelligence Applications" was held at our university. Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the university, Yu Biao, Member of the Party Committee and Director of the Big Data Service Center of Guizhou Highway Bureau, Kuang Fan, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Guizhou Transportation Information and Emergency Command Center, Li Jian, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Guizhou Comprehensive Transportation Law Enforcement Technical and Information Support Center, Zuo Leiming, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of China United Network Communications Co., Ltd. Guiyang Branch, Ding Yan, Deputy General Manager of Guizhou Government and Enterprise Division of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., as well as the main responsible persons of the University-Enterprise Cooperation Office and the School of Intelligent Transportation attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Tian Xinqiang, Member of the University Party Committee Standing Committee and Vice President.
At the ceremony, Liu Yan extended a warm welcome to the participating guests and expressed his sincere gratitude for the care and support from various units over the years. He stated that he hoped to take this inauguration ceremony as an opportunity to further unite the strengths of all parties, focus on the actual needs of intelligent transportation development, jointly explore the cutting-edge fields of artificial intelligence applications, and take practical measures to deepen technical applications and innovation. He aimed to build the laboratory into a "platform for integrated innovation" to explore technical applications, a "highland for practical teaching" to empower talent growth, a "hub for two-way empowerment" to promote the integration of science and education, and a "window for open cooperation" to facilitate industry development, thereby providing solid intellectual support and talent guarantee for the high-quality development of the transportation industry.
In their speeches, the participating guests indicated that transportation, with its diverse scenarios, abundant data and broad market, is a key leading area for the national "AI+" action. The establishment of the joint laboratory comes at the right time and is of far-reaching significance. It is an important measure to gather the advantages of all parties and jointly plan a new chapter in the development of intelligent transportation. All parties will fully support the construction of the laboratory and provide solid guarantee in terms of policy guidance, data resources, technical empowerment, scenario applications and computing power support.
Subsequently, Wang Lei, the person in charge of the joint laboratory, introduced the previous work progress and the next work plan. Liu Yan and Zuo Leiming signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement on behalf of the university and the enterprise respectively. The participating guests jointly unveiled the plaque for the "Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Transportation and Artificial Intelligence Applications".
The establishment of the joint laboratory is a concrete action for our university to take the initiative to adapt to the scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, and promote the deep integration of education reform and scientific and technological innovation. In the future, the university will strengthen cooperation with relevant units, actively implement the "AI+Transportation" initiative, focus on strengthening the application research of artificial intelligence in the transportation field, continuously empower the construction of related majors and talent cultivation, and make contributions to the construction of a powerful transportation country and the development of local economy and society with wisdom and strength.
